2016 Mid-Career Course
Developing Skills and Competencies for Career Development in the Field of Peacebuilding and Development
Duration: Sunday, August 7, 2016 – Saturday, August 13, 2016 (Accommodation provided)
The Mid-Career Course aims to assist the career advancement of those with 10+ years of experience in fields related to peacebuilding and development by strengthening the comprehensive adaptability required to overcome challenges, such as changes in positions within organizations and increasingly complex responsibilities. The Course focuses on Communication/Negotiation and Leadership/Management competencies through interactive discussions and role-play exercises. It offers each participant the opportunity to further improve their performance based on feedback from facilitators and to build their networks through group exercises. The Course welcomes applicants from the private and non-profit sectors, in addition to international organizations.
* A preparatory seminar providing an overview of the UN system and the roles it plays in peacebuilding and development may be held at the request of participants on Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the Hotel Asia Center of Japan. The seminar is intended for those without previous work experience in the UN system; however, participation in the seminar is not a requirement.
