Mohammed El-Amine Souef was appointed and took office as new Special Representative of the African Union (AU) to Somalia and Head of the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).

Mohammed El-Amine Souef was appointed and took office as new Special Representative of the African Union (AU) to Somalia and Head of the AU Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS). He contributed to the Primary Course of the Global Human Resource Development Program as one of the facilitators in 2016 and 2017. Ambassador Souef is determined to advance peace in Somalia, while developing collaboration between the ATMIS and the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS). When he was in Hiroshima for our Primary Course, he actively interacted with our Program Associates while navigating them on issues such as peacekeeping policies and skills for planning.
