Professor Yuji Uesugi, HPC Program Officer for The Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development attended the Challenges Annual Forum in Montreal, Canada from 10th to 11th June 2019. Challenges Forum has been held annually since 1996 to shape the debate regarding critical challenges facing UN peace operations as identified by UN workers and organizations of the respective countries.
The Challenges Annual Forum took place under the theme of “A4P: Improving on Political Strategy, Peacebuilding, Mission Management and Transitions to Enduring Peace”.
The aim of the Annual Conference is to provide Challenges Forum’s partners and key stakeholders with a forum for discussion of specific topical issues related to peace operations, to generate ideas, recommendations and actions on challenges and opportunities for peace operations and to provide a venue for the Forum’s Annual Partner Meeting.
Through this gathering, Professor Uesugi exchanged views with the people in charge of institutions’ human resources development for peacebuilding in each country, and collected information to improve the coursework and career development support.
