The 2nd Briefing Session and Individual Consultations regarding “The Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development” in JFY2018

Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center (HPC) held a Briefing session of “The Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development” in JFY 2018 on Friday, August 10 and Individual Consultations on Saturday, August 11. 68 participants attended the Briefing Session and 6 people availed themselves of the Individual Consultations.

The Briefing session on July 20 was opened with a greeting by Hideaki Shinoda and Yuji Uesugi of HPC. It was followed by a lecture by Mr. Kenro Oshidari (former Regional Director for Asia, United Nations World Food Programme [WFP]) who shared his work experiences during and prior to his post in WFP and on career development in the UN system.

Graduates of the Courses, Ms. Natsuko Kaneyama-Imai (Primary Course JFY 2008), Mr. Yuichi Sugawara (Primary Course JFY 2014) and Ms. Hiroko Nagao- Appiah (Mid-Career Course JFY 2016) then shared their experiences and gave an overview of their individual career development in the field of peacebuilding together with a presentation of photos taken during their activities in the field.

After the presentations, Q&A session was held where the participants’ high motivation and interest regarding international career development and the Global Career Course, a new program started this year, were observed.

After the Briefing session, HPC provided opportunities for individual consultations on August 11 in which Hideaki Shinoda of HPC provided answers and advice regarding concerns in relation to applications for the Course.
