The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Programme

As one of the United Nations organizations, United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme dispatches volunteers to various international organizations and UN duty stations such as UN peacekeeping missions. Through volunteerism, UNV volunteers contribute to peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer. UNV contributes to peace and development by advocating for recognition of volunteers, working with partners to integrate volunteerism into development programming, and mobilizing an increasing number and diversity of volunteers throughout the world.

UNV, the co-implementer of the Primary Course of the Program for Global Human Resource Development for Peacebuilding and Development, administers the Overseas Assignment.
