Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of JAPAN

As conflicts continue to occur and recur around the world, the international community needs to cooperate in providing seamless support toward peace consolidation such as peacekeeping, peacebuilding, reconstruction, development, and conflict prevention. In the field of peacebuilding and development, there is a need for civilian experts with high specialty and ability in a wide range of areas, such as rule of law, human rights, gender, aviation, medical affairs, supply chain management, human resources, finance, and risk management. On the other hand, the shortage of such experts still remains as a serious challenge. In order to improve the situation, Japan continues to make effort in nurturing human resources so as to strengthen the civilian capacity in the field of peacekeeping and development under the policy of "Proactive Contribution to Peace" based on the principle of international cooperation. I ardently hope that the participants of this program will contribute to create peace and stability as peacebuilding experts in the international community.
